I’m an AI policy researcher at the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative. Previously I led European Frontier AI Policy at the RAND Center on AI, Security, and Technology, co-founded cFactual, worked at the Boston Consulting Group, and did research at the Centre for the Governance of AI.
Currently, I focus on the role of Europe and other middle powers in AI geopolitics. Recently, I was also a co-author of Europe 2031, a scenario about what getting AI wrong would mean for Europe.
In past lives, I lived in various European countries, was a competitive debater, co-founded a hacker house, started a traditional 16th century Dutch "chamber of rhetoric", cycled through Scandinavia, organised various cultural events, ran a bar, and helped build a professional network dedicated to effective giving.
